State Senate 6

Senator
Bill Morrisette, D-Springfield
Interim email: sen.billmorrisette@state.or.us
Website: http://www.leg.state.or.us/morrisette
District: Mostly eastern Lane taking in
a number of the smaller communities including the embattled town
of Coburg, with a slice of Eugene (providing a sizable fraction
of the population) and all of Springfield, and a small piece of
Linn County (east of I-5, reaching north to the borders of Sweet
Home and Lebanon).

Background: This is a Springfield-centric
district - its Eugene-area location notwithstanding - which has
a small-town feel, and has been Democratic for quite a long time.
Bottom line: Morrisette, who has filed
for re-election, seems a fine fit, and evidently the voters here
think so. The veteran Springfield mayor seems impervious there,
and in Eugene, which collectively provides a strong enough base
to withstand all but the strongest Republican run. Or even that.
But there may not be one. He was unopposed in 2002, and may be again.
