First take/time

This should be useful: Coordinated travel time signs between Washington and Oregon. Okay, there’s this: I have an upcoming trip between the two states, so this has some specific relevance here. But for commuters it’s a bigger deal. These signs show you the estimated travel time, in minutes, to a few key points down the road. They’re positioned so that you have time to exit and try taking another route if you want to. They seem to be having some effect, as the information evidently has the result of smoothing out traffic flow during busy periods. The signs have been there around and near the I-5 corridor for many months; the new element is that Washington and Oregon now have coordinated signage. That may lead to some happier travels. – rs
